- 6 bone-in chicken thighs with skin
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder or cayenne pepper
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
Instructions
- Trim excess fat and pat chicken dry with paper towels. Score the skin side.
- Mix onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, and red chili powder in a small bowl. Coat chicken with the spice mix.
- Preheat air fryer to 400°F. Place chicken skin-side down and cook for 10 minutes.
- Brush chicken with barbecue sauce and cook for 5 more minutes.
- Flip chicken skin-side up, brush with more sauce, and cook for 3-5 minutes until crispy and internal temperature reaches 170°F.
- Serve warm with extra sauce if desired.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to check doneness.
- Adjust chili powder for more or less heat.
