Description

Make simple, crisp apple cinnamon chips at home as a healthy, natural alternative to processed snacks. These are great for lunchboxes or after-school treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 firm, medium-size apples
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 225 degrees F (107 degrees C).
  2. Slice the apples into very thin rings. You can leave the core in for a prettier chip, or remove it.
  3. Place the apple rings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper in a single layer.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the sugar and spices together.
  5. Sprinkle the sugar and spice mixture over the apple rings.
  6. Place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, depending on slice thickness and water content, until the chips are crisp.

Notes

  • These chips create a sweet, comforting aroma while baking, similar to the snacks I made for my children when they came home from school.
  • This recipe is simple and budget-friendly, making it easy to prepare for picky eaters.
