Description
A festive and easy appetizer with puff pastry, basil pesto, and cheese, shaped like a Christmas tree.

- 2 sheets of puff pastry
- 1/2 cup basil pesto
- 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, whisked (for the egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon hot honey sauce
- 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Heat your oven to 360F/180C and line an oven tray with parchment paper.
- Roll out a sheet of puff pastry on a clean, flat surface.
- Spread the basil pesto all over the pastry, getting as close to the edges as you can.
- Scatter the mozzarella and parmesan evenly over the pesto.
- Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top and press down to seal.
- Cut 1-inch strips down the long side of the pastry rectangle, leaving a 2-inch strip at one end.
- Fold each strip over itself four times to form a triangle shape.
- Press a skewer through each pastry tree and place on the tray.
- Cut out star toppers with a mini cutter and skewer them onto the trees.
- Brush the trees with egg wash and bake for 15 minutes until golden.
- Drizzle with hot honey and sprinkle with red pepper flakes before serving.
Notes
- Use store-bought puff pastry for convenience.
- Serve hot for the best texture.
