Make this refreshing, non-alcoholic sparkling drink featuring a homemade cherry vanilla syrup, perfect for celebrations or a special treat.

- 12 cherries halved & pitted
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Soda water
Instructions
- Cut the cherries in half and remove the pits.
- Add the cherries, water, sugar, and vanilla extract to a small saucepan over medium heat.
- When the mixture bubbles, mash the cherries using a potato masher or similar tool.
- Continue simmering on the same heat for 10 more minutes.
- Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool for 15 minutes.
- Strain the syrup through a sieve into a jar.
- To serve, add some syrup to a glass with ice and top it off with soda water.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of syrup in your glass based on your preferred sweetness and strength. The pictured drink uses 6 teaspoons of syrup.
- This syrup tastes similar to cream soda.
- The syrup keeps in the refrigerator for about one week.
