Description
Make this simple, no-bake chocolate bark featuring semi-sweet chocolate and freeze-dried strawberries, perfect for sharing or gifting.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound chopped semi-sweet chocolate, or your favorite good quality chocolate
- 3/4–1 cup freeze dried strawberries
- 2 ounces chopped white chocolate, or white chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon shortening, non-hydrogenated
Instructions
- Melt about 3/4 of the semi-sweet chocolate (12 ounces) in the microwave, stirring every 15-30 seconds until fully melted. Aim for about 115 degrees F.
- Add the remaining chopped chocolate to the warm melted chocolate and stir until the pieces melt and the mixture is smooth. This should lower the temperature to about 81 degrees F.
- Return the chocolate mixture to the microwave and heat in 10-15 second intervals, stirring after each, until the temperature reaches 88-90 degrees F. This tempers the chocolate.
- Spread the tempered melted chocolate onto a parchment-lined baking sheet to your desired thickness.
- Top the melted chocolate layer with the freeze-dried strawberries.
- Place the white chocolate and shortening in a small bowl. Heat in the microwave, stirring every 15 seconds until melted and smooth. Add a little more shortening if the mixture seems too thick.
- Transfer the melted white chocolate mixture into a plastic Ziploc bag, cut off a small tip, and drizzle it over the bark.
- Chill the bark until it is completely set, then break it into pieces for serving.
Notes
- Tempering the chocolate helps you achieve a shiny finish with a good snap and prevents white spots.
- You can adjust the amount of shortening slightly if the white chocolate drizzle is too thick to flow easily.
