Description

A hearty, comforting casserole featuring ground beef, mushrooms, and egg noodles coated in a rich, creamy sauce, baked until golden brown.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 cups egg noodles
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)

Instructions

  1. Cook egg noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
  3. Add the diced onion, sliced mushrooms, and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper into the beef and vegetable mixture.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and beef broth until smooth.
  6. Combine the cooked noodles, the beef mixture, and the creamy sauce in the skillet or a large bowl. Mix well. Stir in half of the shredded cheese.
  7. Transfer the entire mixture to a baking dish. Top evenly with the remaining shredded cheese.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes at 350°F (175°C), or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before you serve it.

Notes

  • For deeper mushroom flavor, brown the mushrooms well before adding the onion and garlic.
  • You can substitute dried egg noodles with 10 ounces of wide egg noodles if preferred.
  • If the casserole seems too thick, add a splash more beef broth when mixing the sauce.
