Description
Make this simple, creamy strawberry milk for a festive and comforting Valentine’s beverage.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups sliced strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ⅜ cup water
- Milk (whole, 2%, or non-dairy substitute)
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Place the strawberries, sugar, and water in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Simmer for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture slightly thickens.
- Set a fine mesh strainer over a bowl and pour the strawberry mixture through it.
- Use the back of a spoon to press the strawberries against the strainer, extracting as much juice/syrup as possible.
- Scoop off any foam from the top of the syrup.
- Chill the syrup completely.
- To serve, pour ¾ cup of milk into a glass.
- Add 3-4 tablespoons of the chilled syrup to the milk, or adjust to your taste.
- Stir the milk and syrup together and top with whipped cream if desired.
Notes
- This recipe makes about 1-½ cups of syrup, enough for about 6 cups of strawberry milk.
- For a smaller batch (2-3 glasses of milk), use: 1-½ cups sliced strawberries, ⅜ cup granulated sugar, and ⅜ cup water.
