Description

Rich, comforting scalloped potatoes baked in a silky garlic-Parmesan cream with a golden, bubbly crust.

Ingredients

  • Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
  • Heavy cream
  • Milk
  • All-Purpose flour
  • Garlic
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish; set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, milk, flour, garlic, salt and pepper. Set aside.
  3. Peel potatoes then rinse well in water. Slice potatoes into 1/8 inch thick rounds.
  4. Layer the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Pour the cream mixture evenly over the potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle the freshly grated Parmesan cheese over the top layer.
  7. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork and the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Let the dish rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use a mandolin slicer for uniform 1/8 inch potato slices.
  • For an extra golden crust, you can briefly place the dish under the broiler for the last minute, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • This dish pairs well with roasted meats or poultry for a holiday meal.
