Description

A lighter, cleaner version of takeout-style sesame chicken with a sweet and savory glaze.


Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 12 teaspoons hot sauce (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 2 pounds chicken thighs or breast
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Mix corn starch and cold water in a bowl.
  2. Add soy sauce, hot sauce, garlic, honey, ginger, and sesame seeds. Stir well.
  3. Trim fat from chicken and cut into pieces.
  4. Toss chicken with corn starch, salt, and black pepper until coated.
  5. Heat sesame oil in a pan over medium heat.
  6. Cook chicken until browned on both sides.
  7. Pour sauce over chicken and simmer until thickened.
