Description

A simple, moist banana bread recipe perfect for beginner bakers using straightforward steps and common ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 Cups Mashed Bananas (Ripe)
  • 8 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter (softened)
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 Cup White Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • Optional: 1 Cup Chocolate Chips, Fresh Blueberries, Chopped Walnuts or Chopped Pecans
  • Optional: 1 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F (163 C).
  2. Mash bananas with a fork.
  3. Slice the butter into smaller chunks and soften it in a microwave. Do not fully melt the butter.
  4. Stir bananas, butter, eggs, and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until fully blended.
  5. Mix in the remaining dry ingredients (flour, vanilla extract, baking soda, baking powder, and salt). Stir until the batter is fully mixed.
  6. If you want, stir in 1 cup of your favorite addition, like chocolate chips or chopped walnuts, after mixing the batter.
  7. Pour the finished batter into a nonstick 9 by 5 inch bread pan. Smooth out the top of the batter.
  8. Bake in the oven for 65 to 70 minutes at 325 degrees F (163 C).
  9. Take the bread out of the oven and let it cool in the bread pan for 10 minutes. Use oven mitts.
  10. After 10 minutes, remove the banana bread from the bread pan and place it on a cooling rack to cool completely, which may take 1 to 2 hours.

Notes

  • For better mixability, partially melt the butter, but avoid turning it into a complete liquid.
  • If your bananas are not very ripe, adding 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon can improve the flavor.
  • For a slightly richer flavor, you can substitute the white granulated sugar with light brown sugar (packed cup).
