Description

Make this pizza that balances spicy plant-based sausage with sweet honey, topped with caramelized onions and pears for a comforting yet exciting dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package Impossible® Spicy Ground Sausage Meat From Plants
  • 2 homemade or store-bought raw, thin Pizza Crusts
  • 2 tbsp + 2 tsp Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 Yellow Onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups shredded Mozzarella Cheese, or plant-based Mozzarella
  • 2 Barlett or D’Anjou Pears, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp grated Pecorino Romano or Plant-based Parmesan
  • Fresh Basil Leaves for garnish
  • 1 Fresno or Jalapeño chili, sliced thin
  • 1/2 tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1/4 cup Honey or Agave

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425ºF. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a skillet. Heat oil over medium heat, add the sliced onions, and a pinch of salt. Mix to combine. Sauté for 3-5 minutes, turn heat down to medium low, and cook for another 5-7 minutes until onions are browned and caramelized.
  2. Place your pizza crusts on two baking sheets. Brush about 1 tsp of olive oil over the surface of each crust. Spread the 3 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the pizzas. Top with caramelized onion, sliced pears, and nickel-sized pieces of Impossible Spicy Ground Sausage. Bake for 15-18 minutes until cheese is melty, crust is golden brown, and Impossible Sausage is cooked through.
  3. Combine fresh chili, crushed red pepper flakes, and honey in a microwave-safe container. Microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute until warmed through. Stir, then allow to cool for flavors to develop.
  4. Sprinkle each pizza with some of the parmesan, add a few fresh basil leaves, and drizzle each pizza with the hot honey. Slice and enjoy.
