Description
Make these easy and festive savory puff pastry twists for a quick appetizer perfect for Valentine’s Day gatherings or parties.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 tbsp flour for dusting
- 1 egg
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 8–10 sliced strawberries
- 2 tbsp Nutella
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 220C/425F.
- On a lightly floured surface, fold the puff pastry sheet in half and gently press or roll the sheets together. Do not press too much or you will flatten it.
- Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut heart shapes from the dough.
- Prick the tops of the hearts with a fork and lightly brush with an egg wash.
- Bake for 9 to 10 minutes. Baking time varies based on your oven.
- While the hearts cool, prepare the whipped cream.
- In a cold mixing bowl with a whisk attachment, cream together the cream cheese and powdered sugar until combined. Use less powdered sugar if you prefer less sweetness.
- Add the heavy whipping cream and beat on medium speed for 2 to 3 minutes, or until you reach stiff peaks.
- Add the vanilla.
- Split the cooled hearts in half using a serrated knife.
- Pipe or spread the whipped cream onto one half of the heart.
- Add a layer of sliced strawberries on top of the cream.
- Place the other heart half on top to assemble the sandwich.
- Lightly dust the assembled hearts with powdered sugar and drizzle with Nutella.
Notes
- Heat the Nutella in the microwave for 30 seconds to make it spread easier.
