Valentine Sugar Cookie Bars

Description

Make soft, buttery sugar cookie bars topped with white frosting and festive Valentine sprinkles. This recipe requires no rolling or cutting of dough.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter room temperature
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp Valentine sprinkles
  • 1 tub Duncan Hines white frosting
  • 1/4 cup Valentine sprinkles
  • 1 Tbsp candy hearts and/or red M&Ms

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Line the bottom of an 8 inch by 8 inch square non stick baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine dry ingredients. Add butter, eggs, and vanilla and mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Add the 2 tablespoons of Valentine sprinkles to the dough and mix briefly.
  5. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  6. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cookie base to cool completely.
  8. Prepare the frosting and decorating ingredients.
  9. Use the back of a spoon or a butter knife to spread the frosting over the top of the cooled cookie base.
  10. Top with the remaining 1/4 cup of Valentine sprinkles and the candy hearts or red M&Ms.
  11. Cut the bars into 2 inch pieces for serving.

Notes

  • For a clean, professional look, spread the frosting evenly to the edges of the bar.
  • You can substitute the store-bought frosting with your favorite homemade vanilla buttercream.
  • If you do not have Valentine sprinkles, use red, pink, and white nonpareils for color.
