Vanilla Chai Apple Cider Mocktail

Description

A warm, non-alcoholic drink with spiced chai and apple cider flavors.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cardamom pods
  • 6 whole peppercorns
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 2 star anise (+ more for garnish)
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled and cut into small pieces
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract or seeds from 1 vanilla bean
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 Black tea bags
  • 2 cups apple cider

Instructions

  1. Combine all chai concentrate ingredients except the black tea in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat, add tea bags, and let steep for 5 minutes.
  4. Strain the liquid and discard the spices. Let cool to room temperature.
  5. Mix 1/4 cup chai concentrate with 1/4 cup apple cider in each glass. Garnish with star anise.
  6. Serve immediately or warm the mixture before serving.

Notes

  • Save some spices for garnish if desired.
  • Adjust honey to taste.
